While "bandeira" is written identically by some 200 million users of the Portuguese language, within a 100 km radius of my present location I could hear it pronounced in some five clearly distinct ways (in IPA: [βɑ̃ˈδɑi̯ɾɑ], [bãˈdei̯ɾa], [bɑ̃ˈdeɾɑ], [βɑ̃ˈδei̯ɾɑ], and [βɑ̃ˈδei̯ʀɑ]). And of course this kind of variarion of speech with unvariant spelling happens in most languages.
