Shield Argent three heraldic fountains in fess, on chief a flame sword balancing a pair of scales all Gules, on base a traditional rabelo type sailing ship Sable rigged Gules and loaded with barrels Gules. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and silvery scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "FONTELAS - PESO DA RÉGUA".
Meaning:
The word "fontelas" is the plural of an alternate hypochoristic of "fonte", meaning "fountain" or "source"/"spring" (in the hydrological sense of the word). The heraldic fountains on the arms, are therefore canting. They refer to the three sources of the local historical spa resort Caldas de Moledo. Sword with scales is the attribute Archangel Michael, historical local patron saint. The rabelo refers to traditional river sailing.
