Coat of Arms

Shield Or with base wavy of Azure and Argent, a well Azure pouring water Proper, between two boar´s heads respectant Sable armed Argent, in chief a fleur-de-lis Vert. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "MONFORTINHO".

Shield Argent, a bar Sable masoned Argent, in chief an eradicated olive tree Vert fruited Sable, in base a miner´s pit lamp Gules with light Or. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "SALVATERRA DO EXTREMO".
Meaning:
The olive tree is symbolising the cultivation of olives and agriculture in general. The pit lamp is representing mining as important former business line. The masoned bar is a representation of a Lusitanian castle, which had been acquired by the Romans. It played a role for the development of the commune.
