Coat of Arms

image from Facebook

The council informed me they could not find information regarding the municipal coat of arms. It is known that it was adopted in the year 1981. The coat of arms has the same form as the coat of arms of the state, having a helmet at the top and a ribbon below in the National Colors reading VALLECILLO, N.L. The sides, including the bottom, read REAL DE SAN CARLOS DE VALLECILLO, its original name. At the bottom, to the sides of CARLOS are the years 1825, when it was recognized as a Villa by the state, and 1981, when the coat of arms was adopted. The inner area is divided into four sections, having an inescutcheon placed in the center. In the upper-left section is a bovine, symbol of cattle-raising. The upper-right section depicts a crowned red rampant lion, a symbol of the state. The lower-left section depicts symbols of agriculture: an ear of wheat, cob of corn, and a tractor. The lower-right section depicts the bells of the Church of San Carlos de Vallecillo. The inescutcheon depicts the entrance to the old Mina de la Iguana, having at the top an Iguana remembering its name; this is the reason for which Vallecillo was founded.
