The council did not give information regarding its municipal coat of arms. The coat of arms has the same form as the coat of arms off the state, having a helmet at the top and at the bottom a ribbon in the national colors reading its name, "Cd. Santa Catarina. N.L." The helmet has mantling. The border of the shield reads "1596 [foundation date] HACIENDA DE SANTA CATALINA 1977 [year it became a city]." The inner area is divided into four sections. The upper-left section depicts the La Huasteca park, with the sun and Santa Catarina River visible. The upper-right section depicts a crowned red rampant lion, symbol of Nuevo León. The lower-left section depicts the Santa Catalina Mártir church. The lower-right section depicts a cogwheel with a hand over it holding a hammer for industry and tenacity; to the left of this is a spinning wheel with its threading representing the first great industry of the state, the textile factory La Fama de Nuevo León.
