Coat of Arms

from Facebook

The coat of arms of Montemorelos was adopted in 1943, being designed by Ciro R. Cantú, Francisco Rangel Copado, and Carlos Treviño Quiroga, being painted by the landscape painter Luz Leal. At the bottom is a ribbon reading MONTEMORELOS. The border reads at the top VALLE DEL PILÓN, the original name of the area; to the left, CULTIVAR LA TIERRA ES VIVIR [To Cultivate the Land is To Live]; to the right TIERRA FERAZ Y PRIVILEGIADA [Ferocious and Privileged Land], having two laurel branches crossed together at the bottom for success. The inner area is divided into three sections. At the top, the Loma de la Cruz hill; in front is an image of an orchard of orange trees, with a big one in front, symbol of the fruticulture here. The middle section depicts a panoramic view of the city from the Loma de la Cruz; an M is drawn in the streets signifying the name Montemorelos. The lower section depicts the process of conquering the land, with conquistadors, a missionary, horse in front; the Loma de la Cruz and an Indian in a grassland are in the background.
