Coat of Arms

The coat of arms of Doctor González was adopted in 1983, with the motive of the Centennial of the election in Villa de Dr. González. The winner of the contest for the coat of arms was Elena Margarita González de Gutiérrez. The coat of arms has the same form as the coat of arms of the state, having a helmet at the top and a ribbon under in the National Colors reading Humus Fídei LaBóris [Soil of Faithful labor in a stylized Latin font]. At the bottom of the border is DR. GONZALEZ, N.L. At the top of the border is the year 1883, when it became a municipality, and 1983, the adoption of the coat of arms. The sides of the border depict: a hoe, hammer, scythe, gun, tongs, and two crossed saws, tools of work. The upper-left section depicts the Municipal Building; the upper-right section depicts a crowned red rampant lion as a symbol of the state. The lower-left section depicts a furnace, bovine, and corn plant; these represent industry, cattle-raising, and agriculture respectively. The lower-right section depicts the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. In the center, the inescutcheon depicts a castle over red; this is the shield of the González surname.

Old Version of the Coat of Arms

Instead of the González surname shield as the inescutcheon, the effigy of José Eleuterio González, who the municipality is named after, is seen; the items in the border are more spread out and the sides read HACIENDA DE RAMOS, the original settlement here, and at the bottom the year 1883 for its municipalization; there are no years seen at the top. The ribbon, instead of reading the motto at the bottom, reads DR. GONZALEZ N.L.
