Coat of Arms

from allende.gob.mx

The coat of arms of Allende was adopted on 31 December 1981; the author is unknown, but it is known that two proposals were sent by the Nuevo León Society of History, Geography, and Statistics, being adopted through a proposal of renovating its municipal coat of arms during the administration of Municipal President Gilberto Tamez Rodríguez (1980-1982) to the society. The shield has a similar form to the coat of arms of the state, having at the top the effigy of Ignacio Allende (who the municipality is named after), and at the bottom a ribbon in the National Colors reading Allende, Nuevo Leon. The sides read TRABAJO Y SUPERACIÓN [Work and Overcoming]. At the bottom is the date, MARZO 12 DE 1978, when it became a city. The upper-left section depicts the eastern Sierra Madre, with the Cerro del Colmillo hill, in the background; at the bottom of the section is the National Highway with a hauling truck on it, economic activities of the area. The upper-right section depicts a crowned red rampant lion, symbol of the state. The lower-left section depicts the San Pedro Apostól church. The lower-right section depicts the Ramos River with an orchard of orange trees, beehives, and chickens; these symbolize fruticulture, apiculture, and aviculture, significant economic activities. In the center is an inescutcheon, quartered having a castle over green and a griffin on yellow; this corresponds to a shield of the Allende surname, also remembering Ignacio Allende.
