No Flag

I was informed there is no municipal flag for Abasolo.

Coat of Arms

image from Facebook

I was told by the council that the history regarding the coat of arms is unknown. The coat of arms has the same form as the coat of arms of the State, having at the top a helmet and under a ribbon reading ABASOLO, N.L. in the National Colors. The border reads HACIENDA DE EGUIA Y DE VIUDAS; at the top is the year 1648, of the hacienda's foundation, and 1827, when the Hacienda became Villa Abasolo. The shield is divided into four sections, having in the center an inescutcheon. The upper-left section depicts the Sierra del Fraile as a geographic representation, to the upper-right, the Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe Church. The lower-left section depicts the facade of the Municipal Building. The lower-right section depicts a crowned red lion, a symbol of the State. The inescutcheon in the center has the face of the insurgent José Mariano Abasolo, who the municipality is named after.
