The coat of arms of San Buenaventura is the product of a contest held in 1981 by the Municipal Government. The design by the architect Óscar Falcón Sánchez was chosen as the municipal coat of arms. The outer border is red, reading SAN BUENAVENTURA, COAHUILA. at the bottom. Wrapping around the red border are stylized images of drops of honey for apiculture. The inner border is yellow, bearing at the bottom a wreath of corn and wheat remembering its agriculture. At the top is a ribbon in the National Colors reading SEMPER LABORIS [Always Working]. The inner section depicts the local church, which the municipality is named after, by trees and at the foot of hills [Santa Gertrudis hill] where the sun can be seen rising. The start of the Nadadores River can be seen, with a bovine to its right and a tree representing the vegetation.
