Coat of Arms

from sefircoahuila.gob.mx

The coat of arms was adopted through Act N°39 on 12 November 1943, being designed by Manuel López Güitron, Local Deputy and General Secretary of Government. At the top, a lit torch for education and ribbon behind reading TIERRA HOSPITALARIA [Hospitable Land]. To the sides of the border, VOLUNTAD FIRME, ACCION PERSEVERANTE [Firm Will, Persevering Action]. The shield is in two sections, having a small triangle at the bottom. The triangle depicts junipers, from which the municipal name is derived, growing by the Sabinas River; the left section depicts a train on railroad tracks; this gave rise to the economy in the area. To the right, a mine because the extraction of carbon resources is a major part of the economy.
