Coat of Arms

from Facebook

The coat of arms was adopted in 1963, during the administration of Municipal President Antonio Flores Castro, being approved by the Government of the State under Act N°147. It was designed by the painter Donaciano Mena Cortés, being invited by the Municipal President to do so. The shield is scrolled, having at the top a lit torch. To the sides is its name, RAMOS ARIZPE. At the bottom is a ribbon reading the motto EN EL ESFUERZO FUNDAMOS NUESTRO VALER [In Effort we Found Our Worth]. The upper-left section depicts two wolves passing through a tree, the coat of arms of Nueva Vizcaya which it was part of. The upper-right depicts a valley between mountains and a building (chaplaincy) with a trail leading to it, remembering its original name: San Nicolás de la Capellanía. The lower-left section depicts an eagle free from a chain of slavery, holding onto a book (Constitution of 1824), remembering the role of Ramos Arizpe in its creation. To the lower-right, two hands hold a fruit: cluster of grapes and an apple, representing the generosity of the land.
