Coat of Arms

from sefircoahuila.gob.mx

The coat of arms of Arteaga was designed by Velia Valdés Nuncio, adopted through a call for submissions from the Government of the State, during the administration of the Governor Benecio López Padilla, being approved by Decree N°232 on 14 March 1945. A metal shield that is scrolled bears banners in red and green at the top; in the center, one of the National colors. In the center, the border of the shield is red and reads ARTEAGA COAHUILA. It is divided diagonally into three sections. The upper-left section depicts a bundle of wheat for agriculture in front of the Zapalinamé Mountains. The center depicts three deciduous oak trees bearing fruit, since in Basque the name means "place of deciduous oak trees". The lower-right depicts a tent with a National flag over it; birds fly overhead; this section signifies that a headquarters during the Revolution was established here.
