Flags of the club

Coleraine Yacht Club is located on the N. coast of N. Ireland (UK), to the E. of Lough Foyle. Founded in 1962 as the River Bann Boat Club, the club received its present name after the move to Coleraine a few years later. A RYA Training Centre is established there. As they put it: “We are based on an ideal site overlooking the River Bann convenient to the Marina and the three towns of Coleraine, Portstewart & Portrush”, quoted from http://www.coleraineyachtclub.co.uk.

Already a small drawing when first seen on the site, the burgee is now definitely petite: http://colerainyachtclub.ning.com. It is a blue pennant bearing a white tower with a red and blue something inside it.  However this photo shows a rectangular flag with the same design, apparently: http://colerainyachtclub.ning.com/photo/christmas-dinner-2009-19?context=latest - dark blue field bearing a white tower, outlined yellow; on said tower are placed a red hand – representing Ulster, surely - and in front of it, two stylized dark blue waves. More in this vein here: http://colerainyachtclub.ning.com/photo/christmas-dinner-2009-9/next?context=user where we see what must be a club officer’s flag, framed on the wall: previous design transferred to a swallowtail, red cross throughout behind the tower and a ball, possibly white, in the upper hoist.

Others may be more lucky in pinpointing the burgee, in the meantime have a look at the logo-like picture on burgees.com: http://www.burgees.com/BGroupCo-Cz.htm.

Burgee

[Coleraine Yacht Club burgee] photo by Helen Beatty, 24 April 2026

An example of this burgee was found in the East Down Sailing Club who asked for identification of pennant with this illustration.

I don't see any example of the burgee on their website, but I see the same badge, but in different colours. The Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/coleraineyachtclub) shows the badge in the same colours as on the burgee.
