The Communauté d'agglomération de Nevers (65,942 inhabitants in 2016; 25,000 ha) was established in 2003 by the former Communauté de communes Val de Loire-Val de Nièvre (est. In 1996 by Nevers, Coulanges, and Fourchambault; subsequently joined by Saincaize-Meauce) and the municipality of Varennes-Vauzelles, Garchizy, Pougues-les-Eaux, Sermoise-sur-Loire, Challuy, and Germigny-sur-Loire. The authority was subsequently joined by Gimouille (2010), Marzy (2013), and Parigny-les-Vaux (2017).

The flag of the Communauté d'agglomération de Nevers (photo, photo) is white with the authority's logo. Before 2013, the authority was nicknamed "adn" (Franch, "DNA", and standing for "Agglomération de Nevers"); its flag (photo) was white with the logo of the time.
