The Ministry of Culture is one of 23 Dominican cabinet-level ministries. The Ministry of Culture's flag, features the Ministry logo on a white field. The logo itself consists of generally C-shaped swirls of red, gold, and two shades of green, with a blue dot in the center. I'm not sure the symbolism behind the logo. Beneath the logo in black letters is the name of the Ministry in Spanish - Ministerio de Cultura.

What the Ministry of Culture does is to coordinate the Sistema Nacional de Cultura de la República Dominicana (National Culture System of the Dominican Republic) and responsible for the execution and enactment of policies, plans, programs and of cultural development (which in turn, encompases the whole cultural aspect of the country, its museums, social development, etc.).

The Ministry traces its origins to 1979 when a UNESCO visit to the country made a report on the country's cultural institutions. This was then followed by the establishment of the "Consejo Presidencial de Cultura" (English: "Presidential Council of Culture") through Decreto del Poder Ejecutivo (English: "Executive Power Decree") No 82-97, which led up to the establishment of the "Secretaría de Estado de Cultura" (English: "Secretariat of State of Culture") by Ley (English: Law) 41-00 of 28 June 2000, then renamed Ministerio de Cultura.
