In a golden (= yellow) shield is a black eagle, armed and tongued red. Upon his breast is a silver (= white) inescutcheon containing black capitals "O" over "M".
Meaning:
In the middle of the 13th century King Rudolf I granted Mosbach city rights. The city remained part of the Palatinate, even after the city in 1329 had been pawned to the Wittelsbach kin. acquired the. Until 1558 the city used only the imperial eagle in the seals (known since 1330). From the beginning of the 17th century the letters "O" and "M" appear on pictures of the arms (window of arms of the town hall). "OM" probably is the abbreviation of "oppidum Mosbacense", i.e. city of Mosbach. Merian in 1645 displayed the shield with an inescutcheon bearing a bend. Its meaning is unknown. In the 19th century the bend got the tinctures of Baden. The coat of arms and the tinctures were fixed in 1898.
