Overview

Note that the correct translation of colegio should be "school", rather than "college" (unless it is colegio superior). A colegio is a K-12 educational institute, not a higher education one.

ASCUN

"Asociación Colombiana de Universidades" (Colombian Association of Universities) brings together public and private universities in Colombia. Its main objectives are to serve as a permanent forum for discussion of the present and future of Colombian universities, to establish a relationship between universities and the national government, to conduct academic research on higher education, to promote extension education, academic development, the creation of research networks, to provide information services, and to maintain institutional and inter-institutional relations. As of 2025 there are currently 95 member institutions. It was established on May 5, 1957 in Bogotá where its headquarters are. Source: [1].

The flag is a white horizontal background with the logo in the middle.

The logo's official explanation is as follows (original in Spanish):

Formed by three intertwined "U" letters. This representative element expresses the supreme function of promoting inter-university dialogue, where networking becomes its essential tool and the fundamental asset and reason for the Association's activities. The intersection of the letters reveals a flower at the base of the union, an expression of the harmonious product and visible results that emerge from the synergy between the universities that belong to Ascún. The intertwined letters reveal an "A," a "C," and a "U," the initials of the Colombian Association of Universities, a symbol of unity, consultation, and analysis, essential characteristics of Ascún's work.

The Association's symbol is born from the union of three capital "U"s, rotated 0°, 90°, and 180°. Because the "U"s possess movement due to their construction characteristics, the central axis cannot be considered a point of tension. Therefore, the independent quadrants are considered and the three are intersected to create a new, coherent, balanced image with equal construction."

The font type is Century and Futura The logo colors are explained as follows (original in Spanish):

Red: the red (color) of the logo is a primary color, a symbol of strength, independence, and courage, expressing the dynamism and capacity for action of the Colombian university to promote social transformation. Blue: the blue (color) is a symbol of depth, security, and harmony. It expresses the way in which Ascún assumes the responsibility of creating university thought and the essential characteristic for articulating the National University System, bringing together state and private institutions toward the consolidation of common goals. White: the white (color) is a symbol of youth, tranquility, and harmony. It is the color that results from the association of all colors, generating synergies. It is a rational expression of the target group of university education and of the will and effort to work together.

The logo features a wide range of metallic colors that give mobility to the polychrome, based on the main palette. These are:
Red C:0 M:100 Y:100 K:9 ; R:216 G:25 B:32 and C:4 M:86 Y:83 K:69 ; R:101 ; R:101 G:21 B:4
