About Santa Cruz Province subdivisions

The Province of Santa Cruz has its own system of local government entities. It recognizes three different types: municipalities (municipio), development commissions (comision de fomento), and communal delegations (delegacion comunal). While municipalities and development commissions are independent entities, communal delegations are not. They are either part of municipality or of the development commission. In total, there are 15 municipalities, 5 development commissions, and 7 communal delegations.
